House in Port-of-Spain
Port of Spain, Trinidad
Our house in Port-of-Spain is now complete.
Designed in close collaboration with landscape architect Todd Longstaffe-Gowan, this private family home feels distinct from its suburban context in Port of Spain. The garden is a jungle, with a lagoon-like swimming pool and tropical plants. Hidden inside this lush environment, the house sits quietly and rationally. Its strength is in its simplicity: a crisp, square-set form clad in Travertine marble.
This video takes us on a tour from the dining terrace and across the living room terrace to the north garden.
Inside, the living spaces are configured carefully and straightforwardly, with a family room, kitchen and dining room on the ground floor and bedrooms upstairs. Interior spaces are of great scale yet with material simplicity. Walls and floors are all in concrete, with contrasting textural details in walnut and ponyskin.
