Adam Stanford

Architectural Assistant

Adam joined Jamie Fobert Architects in Summer 2019, having graduated with First Class Honours from the Arts University Bournemouth. His degree show work was nominated for the RIBA Bronze Medal and the AJ Student Prize 2019. Adam has a hands-on approach to design and he has real skill in making, from crafting architectural models to book-binding and building full-scale wooden furniture pieces. At Jamie Fobert Architects he has contributed to a range of projects, with his main focus being the redevelopment of the National Portrait Gallery. Currently working towards his RIBA Part II alongside his working practice, Adam is a highly motivated young designer.

Andreia Costa

Associate

Andreia joined Jamie Fobert Architects in 2010 and was made an Associate in 2015. Born and raised in Portugal, she studied and qualified as an Architect at the University of Porto, receiving the accolade of Best Student in her final year. She went on to work in the award-winning practice of José Gigante whilst also teaching art and architecture at the University of Porto and the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art. Andreia moved to London to work at Terry Pawson Architects. Since joining Jamie Fobert Architects, her projects have included Selfridges, Versace, Tate exhibitions, Les Cours du BHV in Paris, and a house in Galicia. Most recently, she has been overseeing a large-scale project within a highly sensitive heritage context in the city centre of Paris and a substantial new house in Dublin.

Benna Schellhorn

Practice Manager

Benna Schellhorn joined Jamie Fobert Architects in 2005 and was made an Associate in 2012. She read for an MA in Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Cambridge and an MA in Cultural and Critical Studies at the University of London. Prior to joining Jamie Fobert Architects, Benna worked at the Royal College of Art and as PA to sculptor Sir Anthony Caro. She has a keen interest in good, clear writing and, in particular, the dynamic relationship that can exist between text and images. As part of her role as Practice Manager, Benna oversees all Jamie Fobert Architects’ written content, including website and competition bids, as well as new business enquiries and client agreements.

Chris Dove

Associate

Born in Liverpool, Chris studied at Liverpool John Moores University, The Mackintosh School of Architecture, and the University of Westminster. During his studies at The Glasgow School of Art, he was shortlisted for the AECOM Student Award 2014 and lectured in the AIA Center for Architecture, New York. He went on to work on Scotland’s entry to the 2014 Venice Biennale, curated by Rem Koolhaas, and then worked at Wilkinson Eyre Architects in London. Since joining Jamie Fobert Architects in 2015, Chris has delivered construction and detailed design packages for projects in the arts and residential sectors, including Tate St Ives and Kettle’s Yard. Chris qualified as an architect in 2018 and he was the Project Architect for the Villa in Primrose Hill, completed in 2020. Chris was made an Associate in 2021.

Emily Eason

Senior Interior Designer

Emily studied for a BA in Interior Architecture and Design at Leeds Metropolitan University. On graduating with First Class Honours, she was awarded with an Outstanding Academic Achievement award, along with a Professional Practice prize. Emily has since gained extensive professional experience working at Squire and Partners and State of Craft, where she specialised in high end residential developments and luxury private homes. Since joining Jamie Fobert Architects’ interior design team in 2017, she has continued to design for private houses and she has also expanded her work to include high quality retail design.

Hellen Siu

Senior Architect

Hellen joined Jamie Fobert Architects in 2018. She is a confident Architect with five years of qualified experience. She has an outstanding academic record, having received first class honours from Kingston University and commendations in her further studies at the University of Sheffield and the University of Westminster. Prior to joining our team, Hellen gained a broad experience of architectural practice in the UK, as well as 3 months in Hong Kong. She worked on major office, refurbishment and mixed-use projects for a large practice, cultural projects for Haworth Tompkins and community and public realm projects at small practice Adams and Sutherland. Since joining Jamie Fobert Architects, Hellen has been a key member of the National Portrait Gallery ‘Inspiring People’ team. She was made a Senior Architect in 2021.

Jamie Fobert CBE

Director

Jamie studied architecture in his native Canada at the University of Toronto. He arrived in London in 1988 and began working for David Chipperfield Architects, when it was a team of 7 working from a small room at the back of the 9H Gallery. During his 8 years there, Jamie oversaw the set-up of a new office, DCA Berlin. Then, in 1996, he founded his own practice, Jamie Fobert Architects. Today, the practice has grown to be an outstanding team designing projects of significant scale, such as Tate St Ives and the National Portrait Gallery. As Director of Jamie Fobert Architects, Jamie invests personally and contributes his design expertise to every project. He lectures and teaches widely and has a deep involvement in the arts. Jamie was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2020. He is a Trustee of Camden Arts Centre and the Architecture Foundation.

Joana Gonçalves

Senior Architect

Originally from Portugal, Joana studied her Masters in Architecture at The Technical University of Lisbon, with an Erasmus year at The Technical University of Berlin. On moving to London, she worked at Lynch Architects and Mae Architects, where she gained valuable experience in masterplanning and feasibility studies of various scales. Joana’s interest in materials extends further than architecture; she partakes in courses such as metalwork, woodwork, and ceramics in her spare time. Since joining Jamie Fobert Architects as an Architect in 2017, Joana’s projects have included a large-scale new-build house in Dublin, a countryside house in Portugal, and the creative masterplan for a development on London’s Southbank. She was made a Senior Architect in 2021.

Laura French

Studio Co-ordinator

Laura completed a BA in Fine Art at the Dublin Institute of Technology before leaving her native Ireland for Australia, where she combined travel and work, gaining extensive office support experience for a diverse client base. In 2014, she moved to London, fulfilling an ambition she had held since 2009 when she completed an Erasmus year at London’s University of the Arts. Laura worked as Office Manager for interior designers Celeste dell’Anna Designs before joining Jamie Fobert Architects in 2015. As well as being the first point of contact for the practice, Laura’s adaptability and keen attention to detail benefit every aspect of our studio life. 

Morgan Williams Parnell

Architect

Morgan studied at Sheffield University and the Mackintosh School of Architecture, Glasgow. His work experience has included shadowing the architects and engineers at Sheffield City Council and working as an Architectural Assistant on small commercial and private residential projects for young practice StateStudio. Morgan joined Jamie Fobert Architects in September 2018, bringing with him a real passion for drawing, model making and design. His projects in the studio have included a new art centre inside the Shredded Wheat Factory in Welwyn Garden City and our £35.5m redevelopment of the National Portrait Gallery. Morgan completed his Part III studies at the University of Westminster and he qualified as an Architect in 2021.

Olivia Holt

Architectural Assistant

Olivia joined Jamie Fobert Architects in Spring 2022, having completed her MArch and BA(Hons) with distinction at Kingston University. She interned at Haworth Tomkins in 2017, and later worked as a Part I Architectural Assistant at Allies and Morrison, on projects including a new dining pavilion for Oriel College, Oxford. After graduating with her Masters, she went on to work for Henley Halebrown Architects working on a student accommodation scheme in Stratford, a private house in Victoria, and a mixed-use scheme in Shoreditch comprising of office space, workshops and residences. Olivia has a particular interest in buildings of historical importance, adaptability and re-use projects. In her work, she seeks to understand the complexities of site and region, form and space, culture and community.

Thomas Longley

Senior Architect

Thomas studied at the Lincoln School of Architecture and the University of Westminster; he qualified as an Architect in 2017. His first professional experience was for IBEAM Design in New York, where he spent his year out, working on residential renovation projects and developing the ‘Pallet House’ prototype. After achieving his Part II, Thomas spent 7 years working for London practice Nicholas Hare Architects, where his projects included the Arts Building for Canterbury Christ Church University. Thomas joined Jamie Fobert Architects in 2019 as a confident young architect with a broad range of software knowledge and collaborative skills; he was made a Senior Architect in 2021.

Tom Clark

Associate

Tom is a qualified Architect with a decade of professional experience running UK projects. He studied at The Manchester School of Architecture and London Metropolitan University. Prior to joining Jamie Fobert Architects, he worked for Maccreanor Lavington Architects, where he gained experience in masterplanning and worked on a 12-storey London hotel. Since joining Jamie Fobert Architects in 2010, Tom has skilfully led a number of major arts competition entries as well as working as Project Architect on new-build houses including the RIBA Award-winning Luker House. He also oversaw the refurbishment works to the historic Burlington Arcade and the Charleston Exhibition Centre and he is presently heading up our £35.5m redevelopment of the National Portrait Gallery. Tom was made an Associate in 2015.

William Bellamy

Architect

William graduated from the Bartlett School of Architecture with First Class Honours, having focused his studies on making, especially ceramics; his unit was nominated for the RIBA Bronze Medal. He went on to work for 3 years at Piercy&Company on projects at a range of scales, including a charred timber cabin, a slip-cast ceramic display that won the Regents Street Windows competition, and a number of proposals at the city scale. Studying for his Part II Diploma at the London School of Architecture, he focused on architecture’s potential for social change and he received a distinction and a nomination for the Silver Presidents Medal and the AJ Student Prize. After graduating in summer 2019, he joined Jamie Fobert Architects where his projects have included a substantial new house in Dublin and a large-scale retail project in Paris. William completed his Part III studies at the University of Westminster and he qualified as an Architect in 2021.
