The Project
Our scheme for Dyers Buildings delivers a prime residential complex of 35 apartments and duplexes in a enclosed historic street opening directly onto Holborn. Dyers Buildings comprises six C19th four-storey buildings, arranged in two opposing terraces across a narrow gated court, made from yellow stock brick with decorative terracotta banding. We took care to respect the existing Victorian fabric while at the same time providing a high-quality, contemporary living experience in an exciting Central London location.
The development includes eleven two-bedroom duplex apartments at ground and lower ground floors, offering exceptional double-height living space by cutting large voids into the existing ground floor slab. Nine of the duplexes benefit from a private front door entrance at street level.
The first and second floors provide sixteen spacious one- and two-bedroom lateral apartments with windows to both elevations, benefiting from views towards Barnard’s Inn or The Prudential Building. The third and fourth floors provide one three-bedroom duplex and seven two-bedroom rooftop apartments, with a variety of balconies, double height living spaces and picturesque views.
All residential units are cross-ventilated with windows on both sides, and benefit from the north/south orientation of the site, which maximises exposure to natural light throughout the day.
We successfully applied for planning approval, including change of use from offices into residential units, in 2011. In 2014, the site was sold to a new client, who oversaw the completion of the project in 2017.
