A set of new façades on the Rue des Archives were completed in 2014. This is the first built work in our phased project for BHV, which restores and revives an historic area of Paris, adjacent to their department store in the Marais district.
Elegant shop fronts have been created that respect the rhythm and structure of the historic buildings. Original cornices have been retained, and those that have been lost or destroyed have been reinstated. The individuality of each building is legible but consistency of material and detail gives continuity. The new facades are detailed in a contemporary way but they are rich in references to their historic context.
The use of materials such as bronze frames, Pierre de Taille and stucco contributes to the quality and elegance of the new interventions.
The second phase of this project, completed in 2019, transforms the interior of the Haussman block – a set of historic, domestic courtyards – into a new retail destination.
