Alabaster plinths, Selfridges

The Project

At Selfridges, the last of the six Shoe Galleries was designed to display the most exclusive brands. There must be an immediate impression of luxury. To indulge a generous sense of space and to display the shoes as if they were treasures or works of art, a fleet of forty-two upright plinths was commissioned.
The beautiful, naturally veined alabaster, translucent under the bright store lighting, makes the plinths instantly recognisable as bespoke, luxury furnishings. The plinths were skilfully carved from solid blocks by Stone Theatre (formerly Marmi & Granito.)
